A South Carolina tow truck operator who said he acted in self defense in a Christmas Eve shooting has been denied bond after being arrested for his part in the incident. Preston Oates, 27, is being held on a manslaughter charge after police say he shot Carlos Olivera, 34, on December 24 in Bluffton, South Carolina. News reports said the two men argued about a parking boot Oates had placed on Olivera’s minivan. Both men were armed at the time of the shooting, police said.
