FMCSA: New Hours of Service Rule Should be Announced In 30 Days

A joint report of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit says the final Hours of Service (HOS) rule should be completed within the next 30 days. The final HOS rule sets time limits on how long commercial vehicle drivers may spend behind the wheel.

The controversial rule has been delayed since its scheduled Oct. 28 delivery date. Reports say the FMCSA was considering reducing driving hours to 10 from 11 and requiring two rest periods with a minimum of six hours between midnight and 6 a.m.
