When the Boss Is Out of the OfficeNov 15th, 2013 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Geri Roskopf's Blog
Well today I feel like shouting yahoo!
My husband is attending the Baltimore tow show. We talked about both of us going, but with just paying for expenses for our son’s wedding, the unexpected purchase of tires and some new flooring in the breezeway at home, we decided only he would attend this year.
I really do like getting out of the office and attending tow shows. It’s always a great opportunity to learn something new, see new equipment, software, etc., and catch up with old friends. Although I’ll miss all of these things this time, I’m happy to stay back and take care of business.
When you have a small towing company and work side-by-side with your husband day in and day out, when one of you goes away without the other, it’s like a mini-vacation for both of you. Sure, one has to stay back and tend to the shop, but sometimes it’s a good thing to do just that. It’s a time for each of you (for a little while) to have your own space — something you don’t always get in a 24/7 profession.
For a couple of days I don’t have to worry about what to make for dinner. I can eat cereal if I want, or order Chinese take-out. I can take the TV remote and watch whatever I want. I guess what it comes down to is that, for a couple of days, I just have to worry about and take care of me.
(What do you want to bet I’m not the only one shouting yahoo? My husband was probably shouting that and them some as soon as he was dropped off at the airport!)
