Nov 14th, 2010 | By Editorial Staff | Category: National News, OklahomaA new law that went into effect Nov. 1 in Tulsa, Okla., allowing officials to impound uninsured vehicles is rapidly being enforced, according to a news report.
Uninsured drivers who are pulled over can now have their cars towed and impounded. In the first week, six cars were towed, the report states.
Tulsa Police Department hopes drivers who don’t take insurance seriously will now. In addition to a fine, drivers may face towing and impoundment fees, and may find themselves stuck on the side of the road.
Officials are not obligated to find drivers a way home or to their destinations if their cars are towed. And, according to the report, they are not required to tow every car they stop in violation.
