Are We Having Fun Yet?Nov 30th, 2012 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Geri Roskopf's Blog
There’s the idiom “time flies when you’re having fun.” Yeah right — time may go by fast, but I’m not sure about the “having fun” part.
So much has happened this past year — most noteworthy, the presidential election. I think it will be a while before small businesses really know the impact of the policies being put in place — healthcare, taxes, regulations, etc. And although the economy seems to be improving, the towing industry still faces many trying issues: safety, driver turnover, rates and motor clubs, fuel prices, equipment and insurance costs, public perception, etc.
Each day I get up and tell myself: be positive; keep a smile on your face; it’s going to be a good day. The reality is, the challenges the towing industry faces are such a part of everyday business, you just can’t ignore them.
But I guess it doesn’t pay to whine. When I get upset or down about something that happened at work, it’s nice to have a network of tow ladies who listen to my worries and woes. They’ve been there, done that, totally understand where I’m coming from, and give me good advice. One bit of advice I might take up is to change the “whine” to “wine” … then the “having fun” will begin.
