A tow truck procession in honor of recently deceased tow truck driver William Anthony “Tony” Padilla is being organized by the Towing and Recovery Association of Washington, to be followed by a celebration of life, according to a news report. The event is expected to see a large turnout, the report states, and could happen as soon as Saturday, Oct. 9.
Padilla was employed by GT Towing for the last eight months before his death, though he previously worked for the firm under different ownership. Tony’s truck in the GT Towing lot was washed and cleaned, and people, including employees from the Washington State Patrol and the Department of Transportation, have been coming by and leaving flowers to show their respect, according to the report.
Padilla was killed on Sept. 24 in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 5. Shavelle Lewis has been charged and arrested as a suspect in the case.
