A driver with McGann and Chester Towing followed a vehicle driven by a University of Pittsburgh football player who was arrested for drunk driving, striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene of an accident, a news report said. A witness told Pittsburgh Police he saw a silver Pontiac Sedan strike a man identified as Christopher Paul at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, September 12, on East Carson Street.
According to the report, the towing operator caught up to the vehicle and followed it until the driver parked. Police arrested Jason Anthony Douglas, 19, a redshirt freshman from Opa-locka, Florida, on charges of causing an accident resulting in serious injury, aggravated assault, drunken-driving and underage drinking.
Paul was hospitalized with head injuries, the report said. Douglas has been suspended indefinitely from team activities.
