My Mobile Filing CabinetAug 24th, 2012 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Geri Roskopf's Blog
My husband and I stopped at a local gas station to fill up and the fuel card was on the visor under a sunglasses clip. As my husband flipped the visor down to get the card, my bank deposit, outgoing mail, gas receipts, etc. fell down all over the inside of the car. He had a few words to say about what he calls my “mobile filing cabinet.”
I’ve been reading a lot about the many advances in business technology that will help my towing company become a virtual office. Internet-based towing management software can now allow me to dispatch from any office, take calls or dispatch from home or the truck, monitor operations remotely, price jobs and process credit cards on site along with inputting vehicle conditions at the storage lot. Talk about making your office mobile.
With this new software and technology, you no longer have to be tied to a desk and a landline telephone. Sounds almost too good to be true doesn’t it?
The thing is, you still need to do the work, just not sitting in an office chair at your desk.
I am not sure if I want to take my job with me everywhere I go. For me, one of the best things about getting away from the office is that I don’t have to answer the phone. I guess for now, I’ll stick to my version of a mobile filing cabinet and work my way into the virtual office.
