Might Have to Take the PlungeAug 10th, 2012 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Geri Roskopf's Blog
As you know, I am not a fan of Facebook, or let’s just say I’m a bit skeptical of this form of communication. I think I’m cautious in a world where everything in a person’s life is out there for all to see. My kids tell me it’s the only way to stay connected and updated on what’s happening with friends and family. My friends who are grandparents say it’s wonderful to see new photos of their grandkids and their activities. And I’ve been told having a Facebook business account is right up there with Google when consumers are searching for a product or service.
I spoke with a friend who says she does little in the way of traditional advertising for her business such as Yellow Pages and brochures. Most of her potential customers have come word of mouth (which I think is probably the best and cheapest advertising a business could ask for) and the Internet.
If you would have told me five years ago that my towing business needed to be connected to the Internet for advertising, I would have said you were crazy. How could a customer look me up on their computer while they’re stranded on the side of the road?
Guess I’m the one who’s crazy for not taking the plunge. It might take a bit more time, but I’ll keep you posted on when I test the waters of Facebook.
