As the World Turns

There’s a word I use to describe as the world turns and everything that is happening in it today, and that word is crazy.

There are a lot more words that can describe what we’re witnessing and experiencing: insane, mad, foolish, out of one’s mind, banana’s, nuts, batty, loony, screwy, ridiculous, preposterous, laughable or having a screw loose.

When I was younger I used to watch the adoring fans at Beatles or Elvis concerts and thought they were crazy — the way they were screaming and practically fainting. Certainly, they were crazy as in “extremely enthusiastic” or “wild.”

These song titles come to mind: “Crazyby Patsy Cline, “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen and “People are Crazy” by Billy Currington.

For me, life in the towing and recovery business has always been a little bit crazy, as in you are crazy busy during a snowstorm, hearing crazy excuses (or maybe clever) for not coming in to work, or listening to some really crazy stories from customers who are picking up their vehicles and are hinting they would like a break because they “know the [towing company] owner, or they’re a close personal friend of the owner.” (This one is interesting — that they would claim that when I’m standing right in front of them!)

Just like the soap opera titled As the World Turns, I think many of us in this industry could star in our own show called: As This Crazy World of Towing Turns.

I’m trying to keep my sense of humor, and hope you can find something to laugh about, too.
