Massachusetts Man Arrested After Stealing Tow Truck, Leading Police on Chase
A Franklin, Massachusetts, man was arrested Tuesday, September 14, after stealing a tow truck and leading police on a chase that ended in a crash, according to a news report.
Jared F. Roy, 20, stole a tow truck around 1 a.m. from Tony’s Collision in Milford, the report states. Milford police put out an alert for the truck, but a Mendon officer saw the truck. When he tried to stop the truck, Roy took off, refusing to pull over and causing the Mendon officer to follow chase.
Roy got onto I-495 North during the chase, and shortly after crashed into a guardrail near Hopkinton. No other vehicles were involved, and Roy was not injured in the crash.
Milford police took custody of Roy because the theft occurred in their town, according to the report. Roy is charged with larceny of a vehicle by Milford Police, and with receiving a stolen vehicle, failing to stop for police, a marked lanes violation and reckless driving by Mendon Police.
Roy will be held at the Worcester County Jail until his arraignment is up. He is being held on $5,000 bail.
