The Colorado Department of Transportation has installed cable guards on I-70 and I-25 and the Towing and Recovery Professionals of Colorado are advising members to take care when dealing with vehicles that may be tangled in cables. Members are cautioned not to cut the cables, which can remain under high tension, and notify DOT officials before any cable is cut. For information on cable guard construction and hazards, see “Removing Wrecked Vehicles from Highway Cable Barriers” by Ed Johnson, Tow Times March 2010 issue.
