Coalition Partners

So what does that mean? In short: “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.”

And so it was with the California Tow Truck Association (CTTA), Statewide Towing Association, Wisconsin Towing Association and that one in Ohio where Ted Durig runs the reverse raffle.

First, the Friends of Towing management team was made up of members from each of these four associations. Next, we tried to attend and support those four tow shows whenever possible, sometimes with our trailer, the traveling ambassador. We held Hall of Fame Inductions at these shows and tried to hold meetings and make important presentations.

I remember the CTTA show in San Diego a number of years ago where we hosted a reception for Friends and wannabees. We presented a PowerPoint presentation on our proposed new museum in Texas, and we had the ambassador parked outside for everybody to enjoy. At Chicopee, Mass., in 1991, we held a membership meeting and adopted new by laws and did some other things as well. In Massachusetts we ate lobsters, thanks to the late Roger Dines, and in Wisconsin drank some cold beer and gave away door prizes by the dozens thanks to Don Rolling, Mike DeHaan and others.

By traveling to these four shows — and many others in between — we met a lot of friends and shook even more hands, which grew our organization to 11 chapters both here and abroad including South Africa, mainland Europe, Great Britain, Canada, the Eastern and Pacific Rim and, of course, the five chapters that made up the USA.

Thanks to you all — it was a good ride. And special thanks to our coalition partners, who made it even better.
