A Free Lunch

I received an invitation from our bank to attend a complimentary seminar luncheon titled “The Effect of the New Health Care Law on Your Small Business.” Some of the questions to be addressed are:

How will your insurance plans change?

How will you purchase insurance in the future?

What impact will the law have on your employees?

The invitation states, “Health care reform has brought a flood of new rules and options for American businesses and their employees. This program will examine the challenges and impact of the new healthcare law on the business community.” The seminar will be presented by the Legislative Liaison/Public Information Officer – Office of the Commissioner of Insurance.

I have to admit, this new health care law is actually making me sick. Not knowing all the facts and how it will affect my business gets me a bit nauseated. Getting bits and pieces of the new law only gives me a headache, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to go into shock when I’m told what my options are — and the cost of those options.

I guess by going to this luncheon seminar, I’m trying to be pro-active with my health. My symptoms tell me I need to do something. There is the saying: “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” I think that even if I do attend this complimentary seminar luncheon, this will prove to be true.

Better keep the Pepto and aspirin handy just in case.
