Virginia County Votes to Raise Towing Fees, Post Clearer SignsMay 3rd, 2011 | By Editorial Staff | Category: National News, Virginia
The Arlington, Va., County Board voted Tuesday, April 26, to raise the maximum base towing fee to $125 and require more information on towing signs, according to a news report. The board also approved a higher base tow fee for vehicles weighing more than 10,001 lbs., setting the fee at $500.
All towing signs posted on private property will have to include the name of the business and the address that owns the rights to the space from which the vehicle was towed, according to the report. This is meant to help drivers easily figure out where their cars have been taken.
The Board said the fee increases are comparable with Arlington’s surrounding jurisdictions, where towing fees have been rising, the report states. The vote was 3 to 2.
Changes will take effect immediately.
