Ferris Wheel Rescue

Floyd’s Towing of Racine/Kenosha, Wis., was called by the Racine Police and Fire departments to respond to the scene of a leaning ferris wheel with 17 passengers aboard.

Operator Rick Leonard used a 2002 Freightliner FLD 120SD with a 50-ton Attac rotator to stabilize the ride’s broken center shaft as rescue personnel began the painstaking task of removing the passengers. For more on this rescue and others, see the Tow Times June issue featuring our annual focus on towing operators working with fire/rescue departments to serve the motoring (and ferris wheel riding) public.
