Wisconsin Towing Operator Killed on Roadside is Identified

The Wisconsin tow truck driver killed Tuesday, April 19, in Washington County has been identified as Daniel Bobholz, 59, of Allenton. An updated news report says the operator was recovering a vehicle from a ditch on Highway 41 near West Bend when an SUV struck a county sheriff’s squad car and then Bobholz, who was pushed against his tow truck. He then fell onto the highway and was hit by a passing tractor-trailer.

Police are investigating, and earlier blamed bad weather conditions from Tuesday’s snow and ice storms for the accident.
