Houston Tow Truck Driver Killed in Rollover Accident

A Houston, Texas, tow truck driver was crushed and killed in a vehicle rollover accident Tuesday, April 12, according to news reports.

The driver’s wife and child were with him in the truck. The wife was ejected from the truck and was listed in critical condition Wednesday. The child was not injured, reports state.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. The rear towing mechanism of the truck lowered, touching down on the roadway, causing the rear tires to rise off the road. The driver tried to maintain control but ended up swerving to the right shoulder and into a drainage ditch. The truck rolled over a grassy area, according to reports.

The wife, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle while the husband was crushed, reports state. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was restrained in the back seat and was not injured.
