Allen Rose Bill Passes Colorado Senate CommitteeApr 28th, 2011 | By Editorial Staff | Category: National News
The Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee approved Senate Bill 260, also known as Allen Rose Tow Truck Safety Act, at last night’s April 27 meeting, according to a news report.
The bill would require tow truck drivers to attach stickers to drivers’ windows alerting them that the vehicle is being towed. It would also create a new misdemeanor of assaulting a tow truck operator trying to tow a car, and require passing drivers to give tow trucks a wider berth.
Rose was killed in February while trying to tow away an SUV in Colorado Springs. The driver drove off in the vehicle dragging Rose behind her for nearly two miles. Rose’s widow and other tow truck drivers traveled to the state capitol Wednesday to push for the new bill.
It now heads to the full Senate for debate.
