After New York’s massive December blizzard left many tow truck operators stuck alongside the civilians they were trying to help, a dozen NYPD cops are taking on training to operate departmental tow trucks, according to a New York Post news report.

These “snowmen with badges” are being trained to use the tow trucks so that they can help get civilian tow truck drivers out in the event of another winter storm, the report states. During the severe storm, the police department came to the rescue of a large number of tow truck drivers snowed in at their homes.
