Texting While Driving on the RiseMar 29th, 2013 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Spotlight
In a new survey by AT&T, almost half of adults admitted to texting while driving, compared to a slightly smaller number of teens who admitted texting while driving. Approximately 49% of adults say they’ve sent a text while driving compared with 43% of teens in a survey conducted last April.
And almost all of the respondents, 98%, answered that they know it isn’t safe to text behind the wheel.
Despite the public awareness and safety campaigns, texting while driving appears to be a worsening trend.
According to news reports, the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that texting drivers are 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident than non-texting drivers.
Texting and distracted drivers continue to be a growing safety threat to towing operators, police and all first responders to automotive accidents and breakdowns.
