My husband told me this morning he wanted a deep socket wrench. I quickly replied: “And I want $1,500 diamond earrings.”

The look on his face was priceless, and then we both burst out laughing.

I normally don’t say too much when a piece of equipment, tool or accessory is needed for the business. For the most part, these items are needed for employees to do their job or enable us to keep the trucks running. The problem — as I see it — is that it always seems we need something for the business all the time! I sometimes wonder, “What about me? I could use a little ‘accessory’ too sometimes.” And besides, with the economy the way it is today, I find myself asking, “Do you really need it or is it something you just want?

Before we were married, I was strongly encouraged to have all of my charge cards paid off. Little did I know, my husband-to-be had quite a hefty balance with the Matco tool man.

Hmm… doesn’t the saying go “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander”?

I believe this is a good excuse to go earring shopping, don’t you?
