Shooting of Pennsylvania Tow Truck Driver Leaves Police with QuestionsMar 30th, 2011 | By Editorial Staff | Category: National News, Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania tow truck driver shot today in Chester has officials wondering whether the act was intentional or accidental, a report states.
Officers were called to an alley around 10 a.m. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived they found the driver from Philadelphia Auto Recycling with a gunshot wound. Investigators say the driver was there to pick up a car for salvage, according to the report.
Someone had called to have the non-functioning vehicle removed, and the driver was shot as he was backing up his tow truck to collect the car. Officials believe the shot came from a nearby row home and after the driver was shot, the truck continued and crashed into a tree, the report states.
There was no word on the circumstances of the shooting, so police ar unsure if the tow truck driver was the intended target. Medics has initially said the driver was in critical condition but later said his condition was unknown. His name has not been released.
