New Jersey authorities are investigating the theft of a trailer containing $143,000 worth of copper wire from a towing company’s parking lot, according to a news report.

Officials say a tractor-trailer carrying 14 reels of the wire from Edison to Clifton broke down around midnight Wednesday, March 23, near Exit 10 of the New Jersey Turnpike, the report states.

King High Garage of Perth Amboy sent a truck and towed the trailer to its lot. The trailer and garage’s tractor were left there around 1 a.m. When the towing company driver returned from another job about 30 minutes later, both were gone.

Anyone with information should contact the Perth Amboy Police Department.
