Memo To: State Association Presidents and Executive Directors, VATRO Board and Membership, WTRAA Board and Membership, TRAA Board and Membership

From: Harriet Cooley

Re: Joe Brassell

Most of you know Sue Brassell, who is the Executive Director of the Virginia Association of Towing and Recovery Operators (VATRO), and has been for twenty two years. We are sad to inform you that after years of debilitating illness her husband of 40 years, Joe , passed away this past weekend. If you know Sue, you know that she was by his side day and night, 24/7 for the several years of his illness. Joe actually had several illnesses that seemed to piggyback on each other and required a liver transplant among many other treatments. Often Joe would fall ill when Sue was at a conference which necessitated her immediate return home to take him or meet him at a hospital. During the last couple of years Joe was unable to work, and his hospital stays became more frequent, longer and financially devastating. This memo is to see if we, as an industry, can come together and assist Sue with the huge amount of expenses that have accumulated over these past years of Joe’s illness.

We are asking the State Presidents and Executive Directors to share this letter with their members as VATRO, WTRAA and TRAA will do with their members. Any contribution you can make will be deeply appreciated. Please put on the memo line of your check the association to which you belong so that we can inform them of your generosity.
