Winter Storm Keeping Towing Operations BusyFeb 22nd, 2013 | By Editorial Staff | Category: Spotlight
Towing and recovery operations are in the news as a massive winter storm enveloped the Midwest. News stations have reported snow, freezing rain and sleet blanketing Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and other states.
In addition to assisting stranded motorists, towing operations have been battling the elements as well — many working around the clock — with calls stacking up.
The National Weather Service predicted the storm will move Northeastward into the upper Great Lakes over the next several days, it’s intensity lessening over time. Heavy show is predicted for interior New England and the Lower Great Lakes over the weekend.
Towing operators have asked motorists to slow down and move over when encountering tow trucks at work.
“When we’re on the side of the road, they need to slow down,” said Tom Grisham in a report on Iowa’s KWQC News 6. The owner of Grisham’s 24 Hour Towing in East Moline, Ill., added: “That is one of the biggest hazards that we have.”
