Two Ottawa tow truck drivers helped rescue a woman trapped under a minivan after the van ran her over this morning, according to a news report.

Justin Morin-Wilson and Ben Meisner were driving when they witnessed the minivan hit the woman just before 10 a.m. The van was pulling out of a store parking lot when the collision occurred, the report states.

The drivers immediately turned around and rushed to help the 53-year-old woman. Morin-Wilson began jacking up the van to ease the pressure off her while Meisner called the accident in to the Ottawa Police Service dispatch center.

Help arrived within three to five minutes. The woman was trapped under the front wheel. She was conscious and in shock, speaking French, according to the report.

Fire crews spent about 15 minutes getting her free. The woman was transported to the hospital with suspected multiple fractures and other injuries. She was reported in serious condition.
