A tow truck driver was seriously injured after he was struck by a car on Jan. 21. According to news reports, Kenneth Moore, 27, of Canandaigua, N.Y., was recovering a vehicle on County Road 8 Friday evening with a car carrier from Dobbs Family Auto Services Inc. of Canandaigua. A car driven by Amy Hale, 28, of Farmington, went out of control and hit Moore, who was behind the carrier bed, reports said. The car came to a rest across the car carrier bed, pinning Moore. Both of Moore’s feet were amputated in the crash, reports said. He was flown to Strong Hospital in Rochester by Mercy Flight, and is listed in satisfactory condition.
Moore’s co-workers have gathered to show support for the injured operator, and say this is an example of the danger tow truck operators face, and why motorists should slow down and pay attention when encountering them at work on the roadside.
