Louisiana Woman Run Over by Tow TruckJan 3rd, 2011 | By Editorial Staff | Category: National News
A Louisiana woman was in critical condition Tuesday, Dec. 28, after she was run over by a tow truck, according to a news report.
Barrie Hebert, 42, of Gonzales, La., was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima when she failed to negotiate a curve along LA 70 South. Her car went off the roadway and became partly submerged in a drainage ditch, the report states.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with officers and a tow truck. It did not appear she suffered any injuries from the drainage crash. No citations were issued for the accident.
Hebert reportedly inquired as to whether her cell phone was in the car as it was being towed. Officers told her she could retrieve it once the car was on the tow truck, according to the report.
However, Hebert apparently walked into the ditch after speaking with officials, possibly to look for her cell phone, when the tow truck ran over her, the report states.
She was flown to a Baton Rouge hospital in critical condition. A full investigation is expected to be underway.
